| Chiropractic first appeared in Ron Schmeltzer's life at 18 years old. "I was in desperate pain. My right leg was numb, by lower back was killing me, my right shoulder was frozen, I had allergies and asthma, and I suffered from headaches. I had 5 years of medical treatments without any appreciable or lasting results. Within 1 month of chiropractic care, my pain was gone. Within a year, I was as good as new. With my new body, I became faster, stronger, and more coordinated. I became captain of my college basketball team and received state and national honors. Afterwards, I ran marathons. Whereas, I was unable to run short distances without excruciating pain, I was then able to run 50-70 miles a week-regularly. These remarkable changes led me to become a Chiropractor". In December 1981, Dr Schmeltzer opened his practice on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. With a burning desire to help people, he gave lectures, spoke on radio and TV, and wrote hundreds of articles spreading his message of natural healing. Within 5 years, he had built the largest and most renowned Chiropractic practice in New York City. His combined expertise in Chiropractic techniques, Physio-therapeutics, Sports Injuries and Athletic Training, enabled him to become the chiropractor for the Goodwill games and NYC Marathon. Professional athletes from all over the world consulted him for their conditions. He came to take care of many of the New York Knicks. Walt Frazier and Earl Monroe to name a few. From the world of entertainment, Dr Ron cared for many celebrities. Mel Gibson, Madonna, Andy Garcia, Ben Affleck, Mickey Mantle, Al Jarreau, Philicia Rachad, Gloria Steinem, Raquel Welch, Linda Evans...the list goes on to include leaders in fashion, business, government, media, and delegates at the United Nations. He became the chiropractor for many dance companies. Martha Graham, American Ballet Theatre, Radio City Christmas Spectacular... all came to Dr Ron for his expertise with dance and athletic inj |
